After serving two terms in the Suffolk County Legislature, Monica was first elected to the NY State Senate in 2018. After losing her re-election bid in 2020, she successfully ran in 2022, assuming office on January 1, 2023.
A native of El Salvador, Monica is hard at work "delivering for our families, our children, our environment and our most vulnerable populations," as she states on her State Senate page.
